Hi Everyone
As every year, before the LVCC road race (this year on Sunday 25th June), I organise a club run around the circuit to inspect the course so that I can let the Highways Agency know of any repairs etc required.
I propose Sunday 14 May as the day for the recce.
This has always been a really enjoyable club run that starts from our race HQ in Ugley, ride to Radwinter, ride the circuit combined with a lovely lunch (last year here http://thebluebell1nn.co.uk/ - it was great!). The run has always been a fantastic day with brilliant roads, great company and food. Total riding is about 45 miles. Please do join us!
So, logistics...
We would meet at the Walthamstow Town hall at 0900 hrs. Then we drive to the race HQ. We'll be riding by 10am latest. We should have you back by about 4pm.
I can take 3 people and their bikes in my car. We can usually get a couple of more cars too. We have never left anyone behind, but do let me know so we can plan cars etc in advance. Alternatively, we could meet you at the race HQ if you want to make your own arrangements.
Let us know and hope you can join us.
Cheers
Paul

Dear All,
Had to cancel the race. Here is the email sent to all riders...
*Dear Riders,
Unfortunately, as you already know, the race had to be abandoned.
Let me explain…
This was because of the bad weather specifically a landslide, standing water over potholes, grit, gravel and mud. Further, the landslide was next to an electricity power supply which is due emergency repair which could have been anytime during the day, even during the race. So there were just too many hazards. The Chief Commissaire and other officials drove the course twice this morning and after consulting with the LVCC officials (who had also surveyed the course) there was unanimous agreement that it would be wrong to conduct the race for obvious multiple safety reasons.
With respect to your fees, my understanding is that BC will provide a refund, but I will confirm that as soon as I can call BC which will be tomorrow morning. Finally, I’m really sorry the race had to be cancelled but I trust you understand why. It’s the first time in the club’s history we have done that. I have attached pictures taken by the Commissaire so you can also see.
Yours in cycling

Dear All,
As you know the RR is on Sunday 29th June on the Radwinter circuit. The day before a few of us will drive to the LVCC race HQ in Ugley and pick up the road signs we need to put up on the circuit - a job that takes a bout 3 hours. After that well go out for a nice meal then head back to the race HQ to sleep. On race day we'll be up early to get to Radwinter village Hall for 7am to get set up and ready for the rider.
How would like to join us on Saturday. It's a little bit of work but great fun. Come on!
Paul
