Yes, I'd say in the Pro sizing, Medium is fine for me (about a 37 inch chest). My Large was just a bit flappy on the shoulders when on the drops and things tended to move about a bit too much in my pockets when out of the saddle.

OK, so I've applied for a team consisting of the following:

    Soren Hansen
    Adam Bruntlett (me)
    Matt Walsh
    Anders Wahl

The email says they have two team places and it's open to London-based teams, so no guarantee we'll get in, but I'll let you know once I hear back. It says that if we're successful each rider has to complete the online form and pay within 48 hours so please keep checking this page. I'll also email everyone concerned if we get a place.

    Thanks

So Soren, Anders and myself are 'in', but Carsten has a place via another route, so next cab off the rank is Matt Walsh...let me know, Matt, if you see this!

    Hi Anders

I just emailed you and messaged on Facebook. As one of the next 4 in line, as it were, do you still want to be put forward for this or are you using your charity place? I'm happy to do the application.

    Thanks

Hi everyone. Not sure how many will be out with such a huge number heading to the ToC, but I'm planning on doing the following 85km route at 17-18mph:

I'm sure there will also be a social group doing circa 14-15mph with a cafe stop.

9am at the Town Hall. Looks like the sun's going to be out...sun's out, guns out ;)

Just thought I'd give a bit of info on sizing from my perspective:

Pro Jersey - go larger on this than you usually would. I'm a 37" chest and went for Large, although a medium might have been ok. It's a very tight, aero cut.

Bibs - pretty standard size, I went for medium, which is the same as I am in Castelli.

Gilets - go smaller if you want a tighter fit. I went for medium but it was too big and small is about right, although the material at the back is stretchy to accommodate tubes/tools/food in your jersey pocket underneath so I think I could've got away with XS.

Socks - Jamie thinks they're just right, Carsten thinks they're too short. They are on the shorter end of the scale as socks go. Depends if you're a modernist (long socks) or an old-fashioned purist (ankle length)!

The quality is really good and as you an see from the pictures it looks pretty smart.

Hi Johnny, welcome to Lea Valley! I'm not sure a route has been decided but will see who else is due to come along. Typically there are a few groups:

    • A social group doing about 50 miles at a steady 14mph or so, usually with a café stop at some point.

    • A medium-paced group doing a similar distance, perhaps 60 miles at 16-17mph, sometimes stopping, sometimes not. Often not as people tend to like to be back at certain times.

    • A fast, race-pace group/chaingang going at 19+mph, no stops, but depends on who has been racing the day before and whether the fast guys turn up or not.

We tend to be fairly flexible on how fast/how far/how many groups depending on who turns up on the Sunday, but a route for a faster group should be posted on the Facebook page by the weekend hopefully.

Re. membership, you don't have to be a member immediately, come along on Sunday, and you can join later; best way is via the British Cycling website. It's £25 for the calendar year: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/club/profile/1376/lea_valley_cc

    Thanks
    Adam
