Track Secretary's Report December 2015.

  • At the end of the season, frankly I couldn't have planned anything better. Not that I planned Anything too carefully anyway.
It proved difficult, if not virtually impossible to book the Lee Valley Velodrome for our personal use, in keeping with many other clubs. But it's turned out alright.

Two female and seven males did the track accreditation last summer.not all have completed it.
Nicola Toms passed out last year and has been training and racing at Hearn Hill, Manchester, Lee Valley and the new track in ( I think it's Derby) and Martin Godfrey continued his
Accreditation at the Chris Hoy Track in Glasgow.( He now lives there).

The current situation is brilliant. Nicola is racing at women's elite level, and has had one Win with a number of seconds and thirds. At the moment is in 3rd place overall in the Full Gas Series.

Paul Roberts, Carsten Meilandt and Adam Bishop have also all qualified for the Full Gas Series.
With top places in a number of events.
Only last Thurs night, Carsten and Adam were riding, lapped the majority of the field,in a group With two other riders. Carsten came 2nd, Adam I think was 7th. In their last scheduled race, that night, Adam was in 3rd position with Carsten in 6th and waiting to pounce. But with 1 lap to go.
there was a crash which involved Adam, who had nothing to do with it. Fortunately he's OK.
( I have it on video). The race was stopped, I think positions at the time may count.
So there you have it. Brilliant.

They all look so professional on the track, I'm so proud, with great hopes for this season.
Don't take my word for it, come and watch em!

    John Summerhayes.

    Track Sec.
