  • President's Report.

I think you will all agree that 2015 has been quite an exciting year, and the way things stand at present, the coming year looks like it's going to be even better. This is only possible, thanks to all the hard work put in by all the club officials.

The club's Velo Park 10's series, organised by our very reliable Joe Mumford ( whom we are very indebted to), was again a very successful series, in every way. The rider numbers were as high as last year, and all involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This series is a Very valuable income for the club, and needs the dedication of many members and officials, for it to be run. I sincerely thank everybody who was involved in it.

The road race scene has been very active throughout the year. Our riders have organised themselves very well, improving there fitness, getting places in races and consequently moving up to the next category. We are almost at a point, where we could take a team to Belgium. Where we could enter a team into a local criterium, with a possibility of getting a prime, ( just one). That should be enough to pay for a lot of the trip. Watch this Space.
I imagine that the road race secretaries report, wil concentrate on local racing.

As for the track scene, I've given a detailed report under the track sec's report.

The time trial scene as been a little thin on the ground, due to injuries and pregnancies.
Trevor Whittock, last years champion has been off the bike this year. we hope to see him racing soon. Maybe next year.
But for our old faithful club TT rider Derek Trangmar, we would not have been able to award the Time trial championship trophy. Well done Derek.

The roller racing series went well as it was it's first outing for many years.

The club runs have been well attended, similar to last year. There are 3 rides; Beginners 30 to 35 miles , our usual ride 50 to 80 miles in summer, shorter in winter.
And or training ride anything from 45 miles to 100 odd miles, and obviously faster.

The social scene has also been very active and energetic, as I include The Tour of Flanders sportive within this category. All 12 members had a wonderful time.
The training camps were very successful and well attended.
The reunion was again a great success. Frida's food was as marvelous as ever. I can't remember The exact number of people, but there must have been about 60 people who attended.
Last but not least, the Club Lunch was a great success, all who were there, I'm sure had an enjoyable time. Special thanks to the club lunch sub committee, especially Emma and Carolyn.
Also all who helped on the day, and thank you Don for organising the presentation of the trophies.

As I sign off, I would like to say thank you to all the members, officials and especially the Committee, for their efforts and hard work in making The Lea Valley CC. One of the best and more successful clubs on the Essex roads.

    John Summerhayes.
