Upcoming Events (Sept 2014)

  • Sun 24th August (Bank holiday weekend) - the 'Summerhayes Summer Saunter', longer than usual club run led by John, heading east this year to the Essex coast at Mersea. Approx 60 miles to ride there, then either ride to Chelmsford and get a train, or ride all the way back again if you're fit enough. Leaving from the Town Hall at 8.30am and then again from High Beach at 9.05am.

Sun 7th September - the Len Cooper club circuit race - open to all club members, this should be held between 9am and 10am at the Lee Valley Velopark road circuit although we are still awaiting confirmation of the booking

Sat 13th September - the Len Waters 25-mile time trial - again, open to any club member. You need to fill in a CTT entry form and bring it to one of the next two club nights (or send it to Don). This is an individual event, but a team competition (against a handful of other local clubs): the times of the five fastest riders from each club are aggregated to find the fastest club. We are the defending champions so we want a good turnout again this year. The race HQ is the club hut near Ugley (near Stansted Airport) and the race is on a course which starts near Saffron Walden. Full details to follow.

Sun 28th September - the Cresent Open 30-mile time trial - this is an open event (i.e. riders from any club can enter). As above, the HQ is our hut near Ugley and then course passes near Saffron Walden and Sawston in northern Essex / southern Cambridgeshire. To enter you need to send a CTT entry form to the organiser (Mark Freeman) by 14th September.

A reminder - we put on 7 or more time trials each year (not counting the Tuesday Tens) and every club member is expected to marshall at least once a season. If you haven't done on yet, please get in touch to offer to help. Thanks.
