Delayed results, as Lewis Dixon was originally timed over 9 laps instead of 10 - time now corrected. A bumper field, but another very windy evening, let's hope the weather changes soon.

Joe has also asked for people to volunteer to help out. Apparently the timekeeping and signing on is already taken care of, but two or three extra people are needed each week (e.g. to make sure people don't take a shortcut). If everyone volunteers to do this one week each, there should be enough of us to cover the whole series. I thought it might help Joe if I put a rota up online so people could put their names down for a particular week, please sign up to something:

From Joe: After the success of last year's events we are starting the series on the 12th of May for 11 weeks till the 21st of July. The only change is that membership for the series will be free. Rider fees will be £10 per rider over 18 and £6 per rider under 18 at the start of the series. Registration and signing on will commence from 6.15pm. The track can be used from 6.30pm as this is the time we have hired it from the Velo Park. It would be helpful if you could complete the membership form before you arrive for your first event (see attachments). You can pay on the day by cash or cheque made out to Lea Valley C.C.

I've just checked on the ERRL website and it is what I thought it was:
*11. Field Selection
a) Non Member Clubs may be represented in League Races, but never at the expense of any League Members who enter by the normal three weeks closing date. The selection of entrants for League races should allow for the equitable representation of all member clubs.
b) Where an event is undersubscribed on the closing date promoting clubs may complete the Race Start Sheet with further entries from their own or other Member Clubs and then entries from non-member clubs.
c) Race competitors will be categorised as per their racing licence on all start sheets.
d) For Regional events: In the event of a full Field of ERRL riders, equal representation to be enforced i.e. to select the field one rider taken from each ERRL club in turn then second rider etc. until field is full. Riders from each club are to be selected according to Licence points (as indicated on entry forms unless otherwise specified by Club secretary of the riders club under a single cover by letter before the closing date).
e) For National events: There shall be no restrictions on field selection for National level ERRL events.* -
Hi Paul - could you let us know what the rules say?
I've never said there's a rule saying there's a limit of two per club. What I said was whenever we've entered just one rider, he's got in, and whenever we've entered two riders, they've both got in, but whenever we've entered three riders only the best two have got in.
My understanding (and I can't remember who told me this, but it was back in 2011 when I was first entering ERRL events) was that every club that has an entrant has to be represented. So if 90 people entered and only 60 could get in, instead of picking the best 60 (and excluding riders from some clubs) they had to pick the best rider from each club that had entered and then the second best rider from each club and so on until all the spaces were filled. This is how I managed to get into races as a 4th cat with no points while 3rd cats ended up on the reserve list (because lots of people from their club had entered). This doesn't mean there's a limit of two per club - in theory you could still end up with ten riders from one club in the race, it all depends how many people entered and how many different clubs they came from. But maybe this isn't the rule?
-
-
David V kindly created a spreadsheet where we could put down which races we've entered or are thinking of doing. There's been some discussion on facebook about upcoming races, but it would be useful to shift that here so that people who aren't on facebook can find out what's happening too.
For ERRL road races it's unlikely we'll get more than two riders into a race at a time, so it would be good if we could share those out and just have a couple of riders enter each one.
Here's the spreadsheet (which is growing to include sportives as well): http://bit.ly/1IBkaVx

I think* the Tuesday evening rides died a death over the last few months as more and more people switched to the cheap Wednesday evening at the velopark and got a chaingang going there. However, as a one-off tonight there is a Wednesday evening ride doing loops in Chingford, but trying out a new loop instead: http://ridewithgps.com/routes/7422295
Meet at the town hall on Forest Road at 7.15pm.*I don't know as I haven't been able to go out on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening for ages, so I'm just going on what other people seem to be doing
